New Haven, CT – CTCORE - Organize Now!, a social and racial justice organization dedicated to dismantling systemic and structural racism in Connecticut, today announced a rebrand to reflect the natural evolution of the organization. As part of the extensive rebrand, the organization, now known as the Black Infinity Collective (BIC) unveiled a new logo, website, mission, vision and advisory board alongside the new name. “We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to reimagine the work of this organization with the brilliant, dedicated freedom fighters who make up our leadership team,” said Camelle Scott (she/her), Executive Director of Black Infinity Collective. “As we move forward, we remember the lessons, successes, and milestones that brought us here and recommit ourselves to a fight for a future blooming with possibility. A future where all Black people are fully free.” In the announcement message to members and followers, the organization committed that Black Infinity Collective would remain rooted in justice and liberation, and going forward would focus organizing through a Black Queer Feminist Lens. As part of this commitment, the message also announced the creation of a Black Infinity Collective Advisory Board, which consists of six individuals dedicated to Black liberation with a commitment to centering the lives and experiences of the entire spectrum of Black identities. “It’s time for a new age of Black leadership locally that is firmly rooted in true liberatory practices which can withstand the most pervasive forms of oppression," said Raven A. Blake (they/them), Co-Deputy Director of Black Infinity Collective. "Our ancestors taught us that the most vulnerable among us deserves nothing less than to bring our full, authentic selves to this movement. We will only be free when each and every one of us is free." The news of the rebrand comes just over one year after the announcement of a major shift in the leadership of the organization, with the announcement of the organization’s current leadership team, Executive Director Camelle Scott, Co-Deputy Director Raven A. Blake., and Co-Deputy Director Ashley Blount. “We’re so excited to finally be able to share the outcome of this year-long process, but we also want folx to know it does not stop here, the healing and processing are constant parts of our work,” said Ashley Blount (she/her), Co-Deputy Director of Black Infinity Collective. “We know there can be no Black liberation if our work does not include all Black folx. That’s why we’re affirming our commitment that Black Infinity Collective is inclusive of all Black identities.” The full announcement can be viewed here.
